Option A:
Beyond the Muscles: Trauma-Informed Teaching for Movement Professionals
Location: Club Pilates Steiner Ranch (MAP), 1 PM - 6:30 PM
Presenter: Allie Greene
This training explores how the six core principles of Trauma-Informed Care, trauma-sensitive teaching skills, and somatic self-care can elevate Pilates instruction beyond biomechanics into truly effective, human-centered movement education. Participants will learn how stress, trauma, and life experience shape posture, breath, learning capacity, and movement patterns — and how Pilates teachers can respond skillfully without stepping into a therapeutic role.
The course highlights that trauma-sensitive teaching starts with the instructor’s own regulation and awareness, offering somatic tools that sustain teachers and can be thoughtfully applied with clients. Through a blend of education, movement exploration, and teaching application, instructors will learn how to use language, pacing, cueing, and choice to create classes that feel supportive, empowering, and effective for a wide range of bodies and nervous systems. This is not therapy — it is next-level Pilates teaching that reflects the future of healing-informed movement.
Option B:
Advanced Pilates Repertoire with a Focus on Tactile Cues
Location: Club Pilates North Burnet (MAP), 12 PM - 6 PM
Presenter: Misty Lynne Cauthen
An advanced-level session emphasizing refined hands-on cueing to enhance alignment, deepen awareness, and elevate movement quality through intentional tactile communication.
Creating an exceptional movement class is both an art and a strategy. The true challenge for Pilates teachers is not simply choosing exercises, but designing experiences that are progressive, purposeful, and alive - sessions that feel engaging rather than overwhelming, sophisticated rather than repetitive?
This workshop takes an in-depth journey into the architecture of high-level class design with a special focus on the advanced repertoire on the Reformer and Chair. We will explore intelligent scaffolding- layering movement progressions and regressions that invite strength, coordination, and confidence to unfold naturally. Participants will learn how to sequence demanding material with clarity and creativity so that complex work becomes accessible, safe, and deeply rewarding.
A central emphasis will be placed on the language of teaching: developing precise, evocative verbal cues and skillful tactile guidance that awaken awareness and refine execution. We will examine not only what to say, but when and how to say it- using imagery, rhythm, and hands on feedback to illuminate connections, organize joints, and reveal new possibilities within familiar exercises.
Together we will investigate how to adapt and evolve advanced Reformer and chair movements to help diverse bodies, bringing greater depth, breath, and dimension to every session. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a richer teaching vocabulary, a clear framework for progressive class creation, and renewed confidence in leading your clients toward their next level of movement mastery.
